16 Plus Economics is sat by students wishing to enter the sixth form of an independent school. Most often students will sit exams in their desired A Level subjects, so usually between three and five subjects. The 16+ exams generally require a good understanding of the subjects’ GCSE syllabi but as the schools are testing for potential, candidates will be pushed and be given questions where their knowledge is stretched.
The GCE A Level in Economics is an engaging course where students gain knowledge and understanding of the key aspects of economic theories and policies and the impact which these have on the economy. Be ready to be involved in debates and discussions about current issues and challenges that arise on a daily basis through the press and other forms of media. There is a direct link between Economics and A Levels in Mathematics, Business Studies and Politics.
