Pan, who has been tutoring through us for the past three years, has finally got our Facebook project off the ground. At the Tutor Drinks last June, Pan and a few other tutors talked about how great it would be to have a way for the tutors contacting one another to create a community outside the OC office. It’s taken a while, but last Friday, Pan launched the Facebook group which, as he envisaged, has been created by tutors for tutors.
Pan talks about how he is “part of a solitary breed that work odd hours, constantly toiling away in wind and rain with only music for company, and regularly missing a night out with friends because he won’t make it back from a lesson in Richmond in time.” He is passionate about bringing all the interesting and talented people on the OC books together to create a vibrant community – and setting up a Facebook group enabled him to do this.
Pan hopes that tutors will use the group for things such as organising drinks and get-togethers; sharing teaching tips and resources; promoting their own projects such as exhibitions, plays, books (they are a talented lot); and perhaps even finding flatmates. We hope you have already contacted Pan about joining the group; if not and you would like to get involved, let us know.
