10% of children aged 5-16 have a clinically diagnosable mental health problem. However, 70% of children don’t get appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age. One of the main reasons for this is that the signs are not spotted early enough.
Our mission as an agency is to help lower that number by training the tutors on our books how to recognise the symptoms of a range of mental health problems. By incorporating mindfulness and positive psychology into their teaching, tutors can help students manage their emotions.
Daniel Licence is our mental health adviser, liaising with tutors, clients and other related specialists on all things to do with mental health. As a fully qualified Mental Health First Aider, he keeps tutors up to date with the latest in mental health. Daniel researches and writes monthly blogs, and interviews people from the industry in an effort to help spread their message.
A lifelong meditator, Daniel studied Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) under the tutelage of renowned practitioner Rosalie Dores, and has recently qualified as a Mindfulness teacher through the Mindfulness in Schools Project.
Tutor Training Workshops
Daniel also runs regular workshops to help strengthen tutors’ understanding of the most common mental health problems in young people and introduce them to the benefits that mindfulness and positive psychology can have.

Having recently left his voluntary position at The Listening Place, where he offered face to face support for people struggling with suicidal feelings, Daniel is now a facilitator at Ruby Wax’s Frazzled Café in Westfield Stratford, helping to establish an open dialogue about mental health.
A lifelong meditator, Daniel has recently completed an 8 week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course under the tutelage of esteemed practitioner Rosalie Dores, and is now training to become a mindfulness teacher through the Mindfulness in Schools Project.
Daniel’s interest in psychology, philosophy and personal development dates back to his teenage years, where he was influenced by the likes of Jean-Paul Sartre, Alan Watts and Aldous Huxley. He has since shifted his focus to mental wellbeing, and how we can utilise mindfulness and positive psychology to get the most out of life.
Key areas of Daniel’s research include: mindfulness and its effect on depression and anxiety through the strengthening of the prefrontal cortex; Positive Psychology, in particular how we can bounce back from adversity through resilience and encouraging a growth mindset; and the teachings of Stoicism, most notably the concept of “Eudaimonia” and how we can achieve this through living in accordance with our nature.
