A-Level English Literature
A-Level English Literature builds on the skills and knowledge gained at GCSE. Students will be introduced to more advanced literary texts, including at least 3 texts published before 1900. This includes one play by Shakespeare, one work published or performed after 2000 and one unseen text. Students need to read widely, explore the contexts of the texts and alternative interpretations.
An A-Level English Literature tutor through Osborne Cawkwell will help students explore different literary critical concepts. They will also explain how texts relate to one another with regards to literary traditions, genres and movements. A tutor will help deepen a student’s understanding of the text, its writer and context. A tutor will help students develop their writing and essay technique to improve overall grades. At A-Level, English Literature can be taken through the following examination boards: Edexcel, AQA, OCR, CIE and WJEC.
