Pre-U Art History
The Pre-U exams are set by the Cambridge International Board, CIE. More and more schools are choosing for their students to sit the Pre-U exams either instead of, or mixed with, A Levels.
The Pre-U in Art History develops a high level of visual and/or other forms of awareness and develops the critical understanding of works of art, placing them firmly in the context in which they are found. Furthermore the subject content is chronologically wide ranging, extending from the art of classical antiquity to that of the present day. The course also covers a wide variety of media including painting, sculpture, architecture, printing, photography, installations, film and video art.
A Pre-U Art History tutor through Osborne Cawkwell will help students communicate their knowledge and understanding of art historical movements, practitioners and works. A tutor will also help their students consider the way these factors change and evolve within chronological and other frameworks. A tutor can also build a student’s confidence and understanding of the relationship between society and art, art historical terms, concepts and issues.
