The Pre-U Music exams are set by the Cambridge International Board, CIE. More and more schools are choosing for their students to sit the Pre-U exams either instead of, or mixed with, A Levels.
The Pre-U Music specification embraces the creative, interpretative, historical and analytical aspects of the subject. It also tests learners’ interpretative, comparative and critical thinking skills. Furthermore a Personal Study allows learners to extend their skills through a challenging project of personal interest, choosing between a dissertation, advanced recital, free composition or music technology project. In addition the syllabus prepares students for further study and an opportunity to develop a range of skills, knowledge and understanding in music.
A Pre-U Music tutor through Osborne Cawkwell will help students with all areas of the course. Finally a tutor will support and extend independent learning, develop a student’s critical and creative skills, and work through past exam papers.
