General support (KS1 & KS2)
The Primary years are a vital time for a child’s learning: in key stage 1 and key stage 2, since the foundation of a child’s education is laid. So if chinks begin to appear in a child’s understanding and confidence, working one-to-one with a tutor can keep them on track and happy.
English (literacy) and Maths (numeracy) are the key subjects at the start of primary school but into Key stage 2, other subjects come into play. Consequently a primary level tutor can provide specific subject support or general help across the board. In addition tutors also help monitor homework and ensure a child is up to date with the tasks set by school.
Especially relevant at this stage is the focus on enjoyment and getting the child engaged and enthused. Tutors will use games and role-plays in their lessons. Most of all the tutor’s aim is to set the child on a path of a lifetime enjoyment of learning.
